A former post office and telecoms facility, we purchased this 1920s listed historical landmark building to redevelop it into a primarily residential building and sell flats. The restoration and rejuvenation of this under-utilised landmark building into low-carbon living space for hundreds of people is a remarkable achievement
We achieved planning permission for the conversion, which included increasing the floor area by 50% by including a sensitive new build wing onto the existing structure. The extensive refurbishment of the historical landmark building included replacement of all mechanical and electrical services and the implementation of sustainable energy, waste, and water plans. Extensive landscaping, especially in the courtyards, and the creation of communal areas create spaces for the community to develop and flourish.
Ceiling art in the ground floor communal area restored by hand, creating unique backdrop in the formal post sorting hall. Green roof installed form habitats for wildlife such as bees and birds.
Geisberg Berlin is the first residential building listed as an historical landmark to achieve DGNB “Silver” certification in all of Germany. This is testament to its pioneering vision: to create harmonious spaces that resonate with the built environment and foster a deep sense of community, wellbeing, and delight.
